DEVISING PRACTICES is a course designed to explore multiple movement techniques, including Suzuki, Laban, Viewpoints, and contemporary dance, as well as the devising methods of internationally recognized companies like SITI Company and Frantic Assembly. Using Vernal & Sere’s devising practices, these methods will be further explored through conversation with language, circumstance, and relationship. This course will teach students to uniquely combine these methods with external source materials, including text, poetry, art, music, and current events, to develop original work.

This class is fit for writers, actors, theatre practitioners, directors, dancers, storytellers, and humans. Expect to explore the risky space between curiosity, bravery, buffoonery, and vulnerability. This course is open to all levels.
