  • Melinda Gros

    PLAYWRIGHT

I write mostly about women - betrayed, betraying, bowling, hustling breakfast, during pregnancy (as overheard and misunderstood by her developing babies), dreaming nightmare dreams, carrying extra sandwiches just in case, gifting newborns with questionable personality traits, drunk on life or just drunk. I imagine unimaginable worlds – in-utero tap-dancers, the afterlife of Shakespearean characters, triplets elbowing to be first-born. I look with compassion on my characters’ lives, their regretted might-have-beens, and their still unrealized dreams. Pain is confronted, truths are revealed and kindness sometimes, but not always, offers redemption.

I started playwriting after careers in dance and costume and clothing design/manufacture.

Exit Interview

I started thinking about how one would quantify the knowledge gained in a relationship, and it occurred to me that it would be fun to have one party conduct an exit interview with the ex, as you would for a job. Those questions work for ending an employment relationship, and I got a kick out of exploring how they would serve someone trying to maturely move on from a romantic situation. I hope you all enjoy the journey as well!

Jonna Leanne >> Festival Director

Jonna Leanne is the Artistic Director and creator of blueprint. After returning to Atlanta six years ago, she immersed herself in professional TV/Film acting and began her improv journey. She fell in love with the festival world while volunteering at the Toronto International Film Festival and has a deep connection to Windmill Arts, where she stage-managed Closer the Play and worked with Sam. It was fate when she brought the idea of a shorts festival to engage local directors and actors to Sam 3 years later. Together, they read over 360 play and film submissions and made the impossible decision of choosing 12 for the first festival. It truly is a dream to watch blueprint come to life, and we can't wait to see it grow in the future.

Jonna is a graduate of the Second City Training Center’s Toronto Conservatory Program and holds a Master’s in Education with an emphasis in Professional Counseling from the University of West Georgia. With a passion for production management, problem-solving, and creating memorable experiences, she thrives on bringing ideas to life — whether through festivals, film, or travel.
